In general, first graders should take between 10 and 15 minutes to complete their reading homework assignments. They should have a set time and a quiet place to do their reading. This leads to good study habits.
They should be reading for at least 10 minutes each night in addition to reading the books sent home from their reading teachers. This reading can be done independently or with a sibling or adult at home.
Please check with your child to make sure he/she completes his/her homework. Books and reading slips will always be on the “return to school” side of your child’s blue homework folder.
